    Join us on a wild coding adventure. Create your very own out of this world creature, be a heroine protecting your city from disaster, or create your very own masterpiece. The possibilities are endless with Scratch and Turtle Art. Meet Dash & Dot® and program them to play their very own concert or create mischief in the museum.

  • Wrapped up in Egypt Summer Camp

    Curious about mummies?  Ever wonder how pyramids were built?  Discover the secrets of  King Tut and ancient Egypt. Build a pyramid, mummify a living organism, and become a scribe as you write your name in hieroglyphs.  Creative projects, science investigations, and Unearthing Ancient Egypt exhibit exploration included to assist campers in solving the mysteries of ancient Egypt.

  • Magic Tree House Explorers Summer Camp

    We will be tending the Putnam raised garden, which will provide the edible tools we will use to create culinary science!  Garden Plot Crackers to hand ground wheat for homemade bread. This camp will provide a scientific feast beyond your belief!!

  • Skills of Survival Summer Camp

    Date: June 26, 2017 - June 30, 2017

    Location: Putnam Museum & Science Center





    Build survival skills by learning about beneficial and harmful plants, water filtering, wayfinding with compasses, and more! Trek across the Putnam and Fejervary Park learning the skills necessary to survive in the wilderness.

  • "Swim Team" Showing

    Date: April 13, 2017

    Location: Putnam's Giant Screen Theater


    "Swim Team" chronicles the overwhelming struggles and extraordinary triumphs of three young competitive swimmers with autism and their swim team that brings hope to a community. It’s a film about how sports transcends disability and not giving up on your kid.

    The Autism Society of the Quad Cities will present this screening, with collaborators Hand in hand, inc., and the Royal Ball Run for Autism.

    What are pollinators? What do they do? Find out all about pollinators and how they help our planet at our palooza event! 

    A mobile Hort Clinic will be available for those who have questions and seek advice with their gardening and a free Butterfly Weed seedling will be given to each child in attendance to plant in their own garden at home!


    Master Gardeners will also have plants available for sale.

  • Guitar Circle

    Join Bret Dale, a musician from River Music Experience, as he hosts a guitar circle in our Grand Lobby. What’s even cooler is that all songs played will be Beatles songs!
     
    The event is FREE, but pre-registration is REQUIRED. Guests should bring their own guitar and be ready to jam out to a variety of popular Beatles songs as sheet music is projected onto the wall of the Grand Lobby.
     
    Bret will also be collecting donations for the RME instrument refurbishing project that benefits area school band students. 

  • Family Fun Night

    Date: April 21, 2017

    Do you know what makes up our night sky? Find out more at our Solar Eclipse themed Family Fun Night!

    Our Discovery Dome will be open with FREE showings of Discovery Dome shows, telescopes will be available for solar/night sky observing (weather permitting), learn more about solar eclipses at our Solar Eclipse Table, and watch a demonstration of a comet being made! An actual Moon Rock will also be on display! 
     
    At 7:00 pm. A presentation from Dr. Paul Sipiera, President and CEO Planetary Studies Foundation will be given on How and Where to View The Great American Total Solar Eclipse.

    All activities in the Grand Lobby are free to the public. However, general admission will be required to experience the Museum and Science Center and theater ticket purchase is required for viewing the evening film.

    Family Fun Nights are generously sponsored by the Arconic Foundation.

From the moment your plane touches down, at the Paro Airport, you'll be charmed by a culture, landscape, architecture and wildlife that is unique in our world. Tom Sterling is an Interpretive Field Naturalist and film director.

  • Illusions

    Classes will meet the first weekend of the month: Explorers Jr. (Pre-K – 1st Grade)  from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and Putnam Explorers (Grades 2 – 5)  from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Pre-registration is required for all programs as there are a limited number of reservations available. 

    This program is ideal for kids Pre-k – grade 5. This is a drop off program.
     

    Cost: $13/$10 for members. Scholarships are available if participant qualifies.

    Fun, imaginative sessions including LEGO® robotics, a GIANT Screen 3D film, the opportunity to create and learn
    side by side with engineers from Iowa State University and the Quad City Engineering & Science Council and much more await your camper! Don’t miss out on one of the area’s most popular summer programs!

    FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE
