  • Sons & Daughters of Thunder Film Premiere

    Date: March 16, 2019

    “Sons & Daughters of Thunder,” a new docudrama by Kelly and Tammy Rundle of Fourth Wall Films, will have its world premiere at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16,* at the Putnam's Giant Screen.
     
    "Sons & Daughters of Thunder” tells the true story of 1834 Lane Seminary debates in Cincinnati, Ohio. Organized by Theodore Weld (Thomas Alan Taylor), one of the architects of the abolitionist movement, the shocking oratory sparked intense controversy and awakened a young Harriet Beecher (Jessica Taylor) to the horrors of slavery. Harriet Beecher-Stowe went on to pen the anti-slavery novel “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” which changed American public opinion in favor of abolition.

    a mobile planetarium show in the Putnam's Discovery Dome — you'll discover the science of flight through the eyes of a young girl and her grandfather as they explore how birds, kites, planes and models fly. Learn about the history and future plans of flight and how NASA is discovering new and safer ways to travel with the help of future engineers and aviators - like YOU!

    The Putnam’s adult learning workshop returns for its March session with "Your Body vs. Technology." Learn from Dr. Traci Nelson-Johnson of Nelson Chiropractic as she helps you achieve a work/life balance and ways to beat workplace fatigue.

    Join a Putnam educator on Tuesday morning, Feb. 26, during the next FREE Story Time on the GIANT Screen and find out!

    Nature is teeming with challenges and obstacles in "The Tiny Seed," by Eric Carle! Discover if perseverance will prevail in this charming story, unmistakably illustrated by the author of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."

    After the story, educators will lead a fun activity for you and your child.

    NOTE: Story Time is FREE, but we ask that you arrive with plenty of time to sign in and find a seat. Late arrivals will not be permitted in the theater.

    This event is recommended for children ages 3-6. Parents must attend with their child.

  • World Adventure Series: Disneynature: Born in China

    The next World Adventures Series on Tuesday, Feb. 19, features two special showings of “Disneynature: Born in China” at 2 and 6 p.m.

    Venture into the wilds of China with this jaw-dropping nature documentary making it's debut on the Putnam's GIANT Screen. Discover never-before-seen footage following the stories of three animal families — the majestic panda, the savvy golden monkey and the elusive snow leopard — captured in stunning detail.

    One of Disneynature's most ambitious projects to date, "Born in China" navigates the vast terrain — from the frigid mountains to the heart of the bamboo forest — on the wings of a red-crowned crane, showcasing remarkably intimate family moments captured on film for the first time ever.

    Ticket prices are $9 for adults, $8 for students/seniors/military and $8 for youth (3-18). Putnam members receive $1 off ticket prices.

  • Explorers/Explorers Jr: Tinker Thinking

    Is your child a tinkerer? Do they love finding out how things work? Discover what they'll create or re-create during Explorers/Explorers Jr.: Tinker Thinking on Saturday, March 2.

    Explorers Jr. workshops are for kids in Pre-K* through 1st* grade, while Explorers workshops are for kids in 2nd through 5th grades.

    For individual classes, please fill out an Explorers Form or Explorers Jr Form and return along with payment at our Ticketing counter. To register via phone, please call 563-324-1933.

    Costs are $14 per program, $11 for Putnam members.
