  • Battle of the Bridges - Virtual Stream of Testing

    Time: Beginning at 10AM

    14th Annual Battle of the Bridge Contest


    Virtual Stream of Testing: Saturday, March 6th, 2021 on the QCESC Facebook page

     
    Deadline to Register is Thursday, February 25, 2021
    Material pick-up: Friday February 26th – Saturday February 27th, 2021
    Bridges to be turned in: Friday March 5th – Saturday, March 6th, 2021
     
    ALL AGES, with 2-4 people per team
    Cost: $25.00 per team
     
    Build a model bridge using the prescribed tools and provided materials with the greatest structural efficiency. The event is open to any students middle school and above as well as families. A team may consist of one to four people, where all team members must be signed up on the registration form.

    Pick-up Bridge Kits at the Putnam (between the hours of):
    Friday, February 26th: Noon – 5pm
    Saturday, February 27th: 10am – Noon
     
    Bridge Drop-off and Inspection (between the hours of):
    Friday, March 5th: Noon – 5pm
    Saturday, March 6th: 10am – 11am
     
    Live-streamed Bridge Testing: Saturday, March 6th: 10am on the QCESC Facebook Page




  • Explorers: Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life - SOLD OUT!

    THis session of explorers is sold out!


    Explore the life and times of the fascinating creatures we call dinosaurs! Find out more about the era they lived in and what we can learn through fossils!

    This workshop is $15 for Putnam Members and $20 for nonmembers.

    Advanced registration is required. Sign up online, or register over the phone by calling 563-324-1933.

    ABOUT EXPLORERS

    Parents can rest assured during Putnam Explorers workshops that their children are given the tools to examine, investigate, create and invent while exploring the museum and participating in fun, hands-on activities guided by Putnam educators. 

    We are commited to your child's safety. Workshop size is limited to 10 participants. Face coverings are worn by staff and are required by Explorers throughout the workshop, as well as parents when dropping off and picking up. Temperature checks will be required of all Explorers at check in. Disinfecting and handwashing will take place throughout the workshop. 

    Please keep your child home for their own safety if they have any underlying health conditions. Stay alert in the days leading up to the Explorers workshop for any signs of fever, runny nose, or cough and monitor exposure to COVID-19 positive individuals in your family or community. 

    We understand that guidelines and the state of COVID-19 is ever-changing. We are staying flexible and will be offering full refunds for any cancellations by the Putnam.

    Find out more about various species of raptors, along with their eating habits, habitats, and physical features. We’ll investigate owl pellets, identify bones, and search for remarkable raptors in the museum!

    Create a game or creation using Scratch, a block-based visual programming language, and test your skills at programming the Putnam’s friendly bots, Dot and Dash!
