  • River Action Presents FREE "East Meets West" screening, featuring director Julie Wine Johnston

    Don't miss the chance to take in the story of the country's first link to the West — right here in the QC — with a FREE screening of East Meets West: The First Railroad Bridge to Cross the Mississippi River on Thursday, June 28.
     
    Produced by local nonprofit Heritage Documentaries, the movie tells the story of the first bridge to span the Mississippi, the dramatic steamboat collision just two weeks after its completion, and Abraham Lincoln's successful defense of the railroad's right to cross the river. 
     
    Featuring comments and a Q&A by film director Julie Wine Johnston, this ONE-NIGHT-ONLY showing is hosted by River Action!

  • Flight Academy - Summer Camp at the Putnam

    Date: July 09, 2018 - July 13, 2018

    How are some birds able to fly, while others cannot? How are hot air balloons able to float through the skies? What forces are at play in propelling and guiding rockets?

    Let your pilot-in-training soar to new heights as they learn the science and history of flight — and design their own planes and rockets — during the new Flight Academy camp, July 9-13, at the Putnam.

    Campers in grades 4 to 6 will take to the skies alongside the pioneers of aviation, from Leonardo da Vinci to the Wright brothers to Yuri Gagarin, with a week PACKED with hands-on, flight-based activities.

    Your future pilot can't miss this enriching opportunity to rise to design challenges as they learn the forces of flight and discover what makes kites, planes and helicopters work!

  • Dino Days!

    Unearth the excitement of EVERYTHING your children love about dinosaurs with one of three action-packed days from August 10 to 12 — featuring dino-themed activities, roaming dinosaurs, including a baby dino, and the brand new Back to the Jurassic Augmented Reality experience!
     
    Be an archaeologist for a day as you go on a dino-themed scavenger hunt and dig up fossils in the Dino Dig!

    Take in a classic movie like The Land Before Time, The Good Dinosaur and MORE, playing all weekend on the GIANT Screen. And don't forget to take home a special souvenir!

  • Artiste de Voyage - Summer Camp at the Putnam

    Give your aspiring artist a crash course in varied art styles from around the globe and let their unique talent shine through at Artiste de Voyage, from June 25 to June 29!

    This weeklong, all-day camp will take creative campers entering grades 4 to 6 across the planet to Japan, Greece, Russia and beyond to experience different cultures, discover their rich artistic legacies, and add their own unique twist as they take on new challenges.

    Create a dazzling pattern to decorate your own Aztec mask and learn the secrets behind Japanese paper marbling. This BRAND NEW camp at the Putnam lets you take on media from relief printing to yarn to paint and more — and make it your own!

    Campers will leave this action-packed camp with the inspiration and skill set to succeed as they take on new ways of artistic expression.
