Scope Notes
 
This collection consists of 15 copy negatives related to the history of Family Resources, Inc. It includes photographs related to Family Resources' forerunners, the Ladies Christian Association and especially the Ladies Industrial Relief Society. The Relief Society operated the Industrial Home on 6th Street between Main and Brady.

Ficke Asian Collection LII

Scope Notes
 
This collection contains 15 original photographs depicting natives of China, Korea and possibly Japan and other Asian countries. Images including formal portraits and snapshots illustrating costumes, homes, transportation and churches. One photograph shows Japanese natives in residence at the 1904 World Fair in St. Louis.
 
The photographs were found in a box containing other Asian paper and non-paper objects, and removed for storage with the photographic collection. Some of these items contained Ficke accession numbers, so it is assumed that these photographs were taken or collected by C. A. Ficke.

This collection consists of 356 photographs (3 document boxes) collected by the prominent Davenport families Davison and Ficke. Fannie Davison was united in marriage to C.A. Ficke who immigrated to Davenport from Germany in the 1850s. These photographs document the home of her father, Abner Davison and the home she shared with her husband and children. Numerous studio portraits and international travel photographs are included in this collection.

S. A. Fidyke Photo Collection 2004-28

Scope Notes
 
This collection consists of photographs of Sigmund A. Fidyke and his work. Fidyke was a florist and gardener. From around 1920 to 1945, he worked for the Davenport Park Board and progressed from gardener to head horticulturist. Around 1945 he began to work at (and may have been part owner of) H. G. Pauli & Sons Nursery. Around 1960), he purchased the business and renamed it Sig’s Floral and Garden Center.
 
The collection are also includes portraits of Fidyke and pictures of his home and gardens. He and his family lived at 2636 Sheridan beginning around 1929. By 1945 they lived at 21251/2 Eastern Avenue. Around 1955 they moved to 4427 Brady Street.

This collection is comprised of 12 prints, principally portraits of graduating students from schools in Blue Grass, Iowa. Most were taken by prominent Davenport photographers, including F.A. Free, the Lenz Studio, and Berg Studio. Flo Finck, the donor, taught rural school in Blue Grass for eight years and most of the photos represent her students. All photos are in original cardboard folders.

Scope Notes

This collection consists of prints, negatives and slides taken by Putnam Museum curator Eunice Schlichting to document the Floods of 1993 and 2001. Prints are numbered in the order of the negatives.
 
Flood of 2001 photographs were probably taken in April and consists of two rolls of 24 exposure color films and 2 3.5 x 5 prints of each image, 10 4x6 black and white prints with negatives.
 
 Flood of 1993 images include 2 - 4x5 color prints with 35 mm negatives, a contact sheet with 35 mm black and white negatives, 20 color slides, and 2 - 4x5 inter negatives, which were probably made of some of the 1993 slides for use in the Magnificent River exhibit.

This collection contains 57 photographs taken primarily of Native Americans and their culture in the vicinity of Fort Berthold, Dakota Territory in 1887. 53 of the images are mounted in an album entitled "Fort Berthold Agency D.T. Illustrated 1887." The photographs in the album were given to George W. Scott (later a Davenport mayor, 1908-1910) while he was superintendent of Indian Schools at Fort Berthold in 1887.

This collection consists of 24 black and white photographs related to the Free Studio. Folder one contains photographs of Free family members and folder two contains photos of the studio, Free home and other images shot by the studio. These images were purchased at the estate sale in April 2010.
 
Frank A. Free has his studio located at 1509 Brady Street; 1512 Brady Street and then starting in 1912 at 1426 Brady Street. His son Henry (Bud) took over the studio. After his death in 1968, Henry’s wife Lois continued the business.
