Hit the road with Fossil Freeway!
This summer, take the ultimate road trip on the Fossil Freeway at the Putnam! Cruisin’ the Fossil Freeway, on exhibit through September 26 in the Lower Gallery, is the newest exhibit designed especially for our youngest visitors! Explore the fun artwork of Ray Troll and discover real-life fossils from our region! It’s a great “trip” to take this summer!
About the exhibit:
Investigate the world of early jawless and armored fishes! See the remains of plants that lived before, during and after the age of the dinosaurs! Take the plunge and find out about critters that lived in the ancient oceans that covered Iowa and Illinois millions of years ago. There are animals that look like plants, a saber-toothed fish, worm trails, dinosaur tracks, fossil scat, giant ground sloth bits, mammoth bones and even a Tully monster or two!
