  • World Adventure Series: East African Safari

    Date: November 13, 2018

    Time: 2 & 6 p.m.

Location: PUTNAM MUSEUM & SCIENCE CENTER

The next World Adventures Series on Tuesday, Nov. 13, features two special showings of “East African Safari” at 2 and 6 p.m., and a talk by filmmaker Rick Ray.

Say the word “Safari” to any traveler, and you instantly conjure up images of "Out Of Africa" — savannahs, lions, jeeps crossing vast landscapes, herds of wildebeests migrating, old airplanes landing on remote landing strips and the luxury of a bygone era.

All of this and more is explored in Rick Ray's new film, "East African Safari." From planning a trip to where to go and what to see, we will explore the safari destinations of Kenya and Tanzania, topping it all off with a trek to visit the mountain gorillas of Rwanda. Included in our East African safari will be stops at Nairobi, Masai Mara, Ambocelli, Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and the Serengeti Plains — to name just a few.

A safari adventure is the pinnacle of a lifetime and you're invited along to experience the magic and wonder that only East Africa can offer!

About the filmmaker: Award-wining cinematographer, writer, editor and director Rick Ray has traveled the world to capture images of its peoples and cultures.  A former Lonely Planet Backpacker, Rick has produced numerous films on regions as diverse as Israel, Bali, Borneo, Lebanon, Syria and Iceland.

Ticket prices are $9 for adults, $8 for students/seniors/military and $8 for youth (3-18). Putnam members receive $1 off ticket prices.

Don't miss out on this presentation — just one day at the Putnam. Click here to download the 2018-19 World Adventure Travel Series registration form.
