January 8: Engineering Adventures
Think you have what it takes to be an engineer? Examine what goes into transforming potential energy into spectacular forces that are sure to make mouse trap look like a game. Use a variety of materials to build your own kinetic machine and see the results move you!
February 5: Hawaiian Holiday
Aloha! Put the snowy cold weather out of your mind and hang Hawaiian style at our Putnam Luau! We hope you’ll want to try a bowl of poi, help us create a volcano and try out some of your dance moves as we do the hula. Mahalo!
March 4: (Simple) Machine Mania
The Ancient Egyptians used them, the Romans used them, and we still use them today; what are they? Simple Machines! Explore the world of simple machines, and see how they help us with everyday tasks. Go on a hunt through the museum to discover how these machines have changed over time, and build contraptions using, you guessed it, simple machines!
April 1: Eggstravaganza
Join us for tons of fun with this symbol of new life and spring. Egg anatomy, eggs-periments, and eggy creations. It'll be an eggs-ellent adventure!
Examine, investigate, create and invent!
Putnam Explorers is a once-a-month science club for kids entering 2nd-6th grades!
We'll meet one Sunday each month from 1:30-3:30 pm, September through April.
Kids will be split into two classes by grade levels.
The cost is $10 per program or sign up for the season
(4 programs) for $35.
Putnam members get a discounted rate of $7 per program or $25/season.
The registration deadline falls the Friday before the program.
