CDC Guidelines Update: The Putnam will continue to follow Scott County Health Department guidance on COVID-19 best practices, including social distancing and face covering recommendations. We’ll be monitoring our community’s vaccination rate and look forward to the lifting of COVID 19 restrictions over the coming weeks and months.

We have implemented the following guidelines to help ensure the health, safety, and enjoyment of our staff and visitors.
 

Before you visit

  • The Museum will be open Monday - Saturday 10:00am - 5:00pm and Sunday noon - 5pm. 
  • Advanced ticketing is encouraged. Admission will be based on timed entry. Purchase tickets here. For group visits of over 15 people, contact Christie
  • If you don't purchase an advanced ticket and the Museum is at capacity, you will be asked to wait outside in your vehicle.
  • The safety of our visitors is our top priority. Unvaccinated visitors (age 3 and up) and employees are required to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth. Face coverings are recommended for all visitors in order to protect those not yet eligible for vaccine. Complimentary disposable masks are available at the ticketing counter. 
  • Please note, Science Center hours may be limited. Please call ahead for more information. 

DURING YOUR VISIT

  • Please enter through the V.O. Figge Natural Science Entrance located directly off our parking lot.
  • Please practice social distancing while awaiting admission.
  • No food or drink is allowed inside the exhibit galleries.
  • Credit or debit cards are preferred.
  • Family units are encouraged to stay together.
  • The Putnam encourages social distancing as best you can using the posted exhibit capacities as a guide. If the area you are in gets too crowded, you may choose to move to another area. 
  • Staff will be cleaning exhibit galleries periodically throughout the day.
  • Please wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitizer, and please stay home if you feel sick or have any COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough, & shortness of breath.


Theater Safety Protocols 

  • As with the rest of the facility, all staff will be required to wear face coverings. 
  • Unvaccinated visitors (age 3 and up) are required to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth. Face coverings are recommended for all visitors in order to protect those not yet eligible for vaccine.
  • When sitting down to eat or drink in the theater or concessions seating area, visitors may remove their face covering. 
  • Theater capacity is limited at this time to ensure the ability of proper social distancing. Markers will be on the floor in the queue line to help keep guests a safe distance. 
  • Every other row in the theater will be closed. Guests will be asked to leave a minimum of 2 seats between families/groups.
  • All high-touch areas of the theater will be cleaned between showings with an approved sanitizer.
  • Limited concessions will be available and must be consumed in the theater or designated seating area. 
The Putnam has taken enhanced health and safety measures for you, our other guests, and our employees. Please follow all posted instructions while visiting the Museum. COVID-19 is a contagious disease with potentially severe consequences. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By visiting the Putnam Museum and Science Center you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
